Kidnapped French Family Regain Freedom

 

Cameroon’s Communications Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary told the BBC they were in “good condition and unharmed”.
The family, including four children, were abducted in February by gunmen on motorbikes after a visit to Waza National Park in northern Cameroon.
President Francois Hollande said no ransom had been paid by France to secure the family’s freedom, though secret talks had been taking place for the past few weeks.
“France has not changed its position, which is not to pay ransoms,” Reuters news agency quotes him as saying at a news conference in Paris.

Son of Deputy Governor of Sokoto State Engaged in Tragic car accident, Dies Instantly

The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Mukthar Shagari Luqman Mukthar Shagari, second son died yesterday afternoon April 18th in a tragic car accident.

The 28 year old business man (in white) was driving on his way to Sokoto from his base in Abuja when he lost control of his car. Luqman and his friend Ghaddaffi (pictured above in the passenger sit), died instantly. The other friend at the back somehow survived the accident. Luqman's car was burnt beyond recognition. (pictured below right)

The photo below left was said to be the last photo the friends took in the car before the accident yesterday. Luqman is survived by a wife and a son. R.I.P to the victims.

Boston Bombing Update: Suspects 'Identified' As Brothers From Russia, Near Chechnya-AP

AP sources identify the surviving Boston bomber as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19. The man is said to be from Russia’s south, not far from the Chechen Republic.
The man reportedly lived in Turkey before arriving legally in the US at least a year ago.
The name is listed among the recipients of Cambridge scholarships in 2011.
The second suspect is said to be his brother Tamerlan, 26.
An NBC report claims the two immigrated at least two years ago. One of the brothers is  said to have a Massachusetts drivers’ license.
Some reports say the two may have arrived in the US from Turkey and have Turkish citizenship.
There is a page at the Russian social network VKontakte (In Contact) with the name Dzhokhar Tsarnaev living in Boston and studying at Cambridge Rindge & Latin School.
The Cambridge school mentions Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as its athlete of the month for February 2011, saying that he is an athlete.

Shootout: Boston Marathon Bombing Suspect And Police ( 1 Suspect Dead) + Video

 

Suspect #1 in the Boston Marathon bombing is dead, following a shootout with cops, suspect #2 is on the run, and the City is on lockdown as police conduct a massive search.

A law enforcement officer died in process of subduing #1, and Boston residence are now urged to all stay in their homes as the remaining man is sought. There are reports law enforcement believes #2 has explosives strapped to his body.

The drama began to unfold Thursday night at around 10:30, with a robbery at a convenience store near MIT. Apparently both #1 and 2 were the perps ... they carjacked a Mercedes (the owner escaped) and police then engaged them in a wild chase.   A young man to death by hanging for stealing N955k in a Warri court. Below is how Sunnewsonline.com is reporting it...

A 22-year-old man, Julius Aboy was yesterday sentenced to death for stealing N955, 600 by a Delta State High Court sitting in Warri. The trial judge, Justice Marshal Mukoro of High Court 1, who handed down the sentence told the convict that he is to die by hanging.

The convict was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery, offences punishable under Sections 6(b) and 1(2)(a) respectively of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap. RII Volume 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

A woman named Esther Peter (pictured above) on Tuesday April 16th allegedly killed her husband, Kenneth Peter Anayo, then set his body on fire at their home at NEPA Phase I Road, Ijagemo, around the Ikotun area of Lagos. Neighbours said the couple was always fighting in public and in fact there was a serious fight between them a few days before the Tuesday incident, where Esther stabbed her husband with a broken bottle and he had to be treated at the hospital. Neighbours said they noticed that Esther and Peter's room was on fire around 2am that Tuesday morning and when they went there to help, they noticed that the room was locked from the outside. They managed to break down the door, and that was when they saw the burnt remains of Kenneth. Esther and her son were nowhere to be found. Texas Fertilizer Plant Explosion Kills 5 to 15 People, Sends 180 to Hospitals, Levels Homes

 

A fire and chemical explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant in a small town north of Waco, Texas, sent at least 180 people to hospitals, flattened homes and prompted widespread evacuations.

The blast Wednesday evening at the West Fertilizer Plant in West, Texas, killed an estimated five to 15 people, said Sgt. William Patrick Swanton of the Waco Police Department, who was relaying information to the media.

Shakira's ex-boyfriend believes he deserves a big payout.
The pint-sized singer and Voice coach has been slapped with a $100 million lawsuit in California by Antonio de la Rua, who claims that he built the "Shakira brand" and was brains behind her hits, "Hips Don't Lie" and "Waka Waka," according to court documents.
De la Rua filed the lawsuit on April 12, after initially filing a $250 million lawsuit against the star in New York last November. Shakira filed a motion March 28 asking the court to dismiss that lawsuit because they do not have jurisdiction over her and because de La Rua has failed to state an actionable claim.

I am very close friends with Lilian's family and have decided to respond to this shocking and unfair accusation. Lilian met Solomon as a little and naive girl in 2001. There was no one married to Solomon as at then. Down the line, Solomon got married to Ezinne who said she was pregnant as at then. Lilian moved on with her life. Years later, Solomon and his family came to ask for Lilian's hand in marriage claiming that their son was deceived into marriage as Ezinne was never pregnant and was infact confirmed in the hospital to have damaged her womb a long time ago. On investigation, Solomon's family said all rites have been retrieved and dissolved of the marriage which was based on deceit.

Endurance Ajisegiri's family got a call on Sunday April 14th from her husband, Isaac Ajisegiri, informing them that she had died at their home in the Shasha area of Lagos the previous day and he had taken her corpse to the mortuary. Endurance's family immediately called the police.

So here's what happened according to friends of the late woman. Endurance (pictured above) and Isaac were married for four years and had one child together. They also ran a business together, an education consulting firm. Sometime last year, Endurance found out that her husband was having an affair with one of their employees and this caused serious problems between them. Endurance eventually moved out of her matrimonial home with her 2 year old daughter.

Aliko Dangote to build $8bn oil refinery in Nigeria

Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, plans to invest up to $8bn to build a Nigerian oil refinery with a capacity of around 400,000 barrels a day by late 2016, the tycoon told Reuters on Tuesday.

This will almost double Nigeria’s current refining capacity.

“This will really help not only Nigeria but sub-Saharan Africa. There has not been a new refinery for a long time in sub-Saharan Africa,” Dangote said in a telephone interview.

The country currently has the capacity to produce some 445,000 barrels per day among four refineries, but they operate well below that owing to decades of mismanagement and corruption in Africa’s leading energy producer.

Nigeria, the continent’s second-biggest economy, relies on subsidised imports for 80 per cent of its fuel needs.

CAIRO (AP) — Homemade bombs built from pressure cookers, a version of which was used in the Boston Marathon bombings, have been a frequent weapon of militants in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. Al-Qaida's branch in Yemen once published an online manual on how to make one, urging "lone jihadis" to act on their own to carry out attacks.

President Barack Obama underlined Tuesday that investigators do not know if the twin bombing the day before that killed three people and wounded more than 170 was carried out by an international organization, a domestic group or a "malevolent individual." There has been no claim of responsibility.

A person briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press that the explosives were fashioned out of pressure cookers and packed with shards of metal, nails and ball bearings to inflict maximum carnage.

Finally, some news about Kim Kardashian that's not related to her controversial maternity style. According to the folks at Media Take Out, it's been confirmed that the pregnant reality starlet has a new gig on her hands: Singing on boyfriend and baby daddy Kanye West's upcoming album.


Apparently, Kardashian will be warbling on the "intro or an interlude," so we'll probably only get a brief preview of her vocal chops-but in case you forgot, this isn't her first time behind the mic. In 2011, she released "Jam (Turn It Up)," an abysmal track that was produced by the Dream and on Kim's E! reality show "Kourtney and Kim Take New York." Oddly enough, Mr. West actually joined her in the studio that day to give her some advice-way before they became a couple.
